Edward is a fully qualified conservation architect, specialising in conservation work on listed buildings. He has lived and worked in the area for many years working for a number of well known local and national conservation practices before starting his own practice.

He can demonstrate a broad spectrum of experience and has worked on a variety of projects from historic but unlisted cottages in conservation areas, through town apartments up to grand listed country estates. Whether your historic property is Grade I, Grade II or Grade II* listed, you may need an architect specialising in conservation, to guide you through the process of obtaining planning permission and listed building consent for works which you wish to undertake.

Edward can help with all aspects of these applications from the survey works through to a full submission, and help explain where approval is and isn’t required.

Applications cover areas such as roof works to slate, tile or thatch, repairs to sash or casement windows, replacement panelled doors, repairs to panelling, shutters, cornice, architrave, skirting boards, floorboards and other floor types such as historic flagstones. Edward undertakes applications for the cleaning of external stonework (be it Chilmark stone, Ham stone, Forest Marble, Bath stone or other limestones) and the removal of modern paintwork both internally and externally.

He specialises in re-instating lost historic features such as fireplaces and hearths and has extensive experience with hand blown glass in sash windows. Edward works in conjunction with landscape architects and designers to re-instate lost areas of garden and parkland and to complete a renovation project with age appropriate planting.

Edward is based in Somerset, but carries out work in Wiltshire, West Dorset, East Devon, South Somerset, Mendip, Bath and North East Somerset. He is passionate about the landscape and buildings of the Wyle Valley, Blackmore Vale and the Cranborne Chase.
